Perugia is a bustling Umbrian town boasting one of the most beautiful squares in all of Italy called Piazza IV Novembre. It is also home to an important international university. While in Perugia visit the Collegio del Cambio (Money Exchange) where elaborate frescoes by Perugino decorate the meeting room and chapel of the guild of bankers and money changers. The imposing Palazzo dei Priori houses the National Gallery of Umbria with a magnificent collection of paintings, frescoes and sculptures. These include works by Perugino, Pinturicchio, Fra’ Angelico and Piero della Francesa.
Perugia is perhaps best known for being the home of the Perugina Chocolate factory. Every year in October, thousands of tourists flock here for the world famous chocolate festival.
