Full Day – Truffle Hunting, Wine tasting, lunch and visit to Alba
Depart from your hotel in Turin and enjoy the scenic ride through the “Langhe” region. Arriving in the medieval town of La Morra you will start your unique guided Truffle Hunt excursion with a “Trifolao” (truffle-hunter in the local dialect) accompanied by the “Tabui” – dogs known for their sharp sense of smell. You will hunt for the treasured truffles and learn about all the different kinds as well as how these dogs are trained. Hiking boots are recommended. Please note that you cannot take home any truffles that you may find.***
The program from Turin will be as follows:
Pick up from your hotel at 8:30.
- Meeting with the Trifolao and his faithful Tabui.
- Sightseeing and explanation of the land of Barolo and Piedmont.
- Truffle hunting in the historic forest
- Tour of the vineyards and the wine cellar
- Wine tasting of 4 different wines produced at the vineyard
- Lunch to include classic Piedmont dishes served with truffles.
After lunch, continue your day in the Langhe with a visit to the small town of Alba. It is located in the mountainous area of the Langhe where it is considered to be capital of the UNESCO Human Heritage hilly area. Alba and the Langhe area that surrounds it have become synonymous of both white truffles and red wine. Take a walk in the historic center which is closed off from traffic to visit the numerous boutiques and wine shops. Other points of interest are the Palazzo Comunale, the St. Lawrence’s Duomo of San Lorenzo and Saint Dominick’s church.
